People have been getting, testing,treating and healing from syphilis for hundreds of years.   Syphilis is a chronic bacterial infection that can be transmitted through sexual contact. It is caused by a type of bacteria known as Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can be challenging to diagnose. Someone can have it without showing any symptoms for years.  However,the earlier symptoms discovered,the better.
